Silkmoths don't need ambiance, they will breed in any container both of them can fit in.

One pair of silkmoths produces maximum of 10 eggs so you want to use containers with at least 12 slots. Crates have 15 slots so they are probably best choice due to cheap cost, unless you have cupboards.

Do they only breed at the end of the life timer? and is it 24 hours in-game time?

I ask because this is my 2nd time breeding them now and it takes forever I think it happens at the end not within

anyway you know it's 24 hours ingame - just set a timer on 23:50 and do other stuff ;)

1. Pick wild silkmoth up, it receives timestamp 24 gamehours ahead (8 IRL hours)
2. when time comes it will check if there is silkmoth of opposing gender in container it is in.
3. If there is it will consume the opposing gender moth to produce 5-10 eggs that are +/-5 quality of their parents average
