Reincarnation...

Postby SarcasticSoul » Fri Feb 07, 2014 7:11 am

So, some friends and I have recently started playing this game and we love it. However, there is one thing we can't figure out. I read on the Announcements forum that Reincarnation was being removed or tinkered with, but there was some dispute over it being an April Fool's joke. I read through the thread as far as my attention span would take me and it eventually derailed in a massive way, but from what I read it seemed to be a joke afterall.

However, several of us have died, and while we did eventually reclaim the skulls of our fallen previous characters, there was no option to spawn at the previous character's hearth fire, and we had inherited no points. Keeping in mind that we all died at fairly early points and hadn't spent any, it still seems that something should have been returned.

The wiki still claims it's a thing, and the option to specialize into Tradition remains in the game. But is Reincarnation still a thing? And if it is, how does it work?

In the character creation room, you must walk up to a runestone depicting the image of your fallen ancestor.
You then have the option to inherit some of their knowledge. To spawn at their old hearth fire you then go up the ladder

If you are new to the game, and most of your lp came from discoveries, then it is generally considered better to not inherit, so that you can gain the LP from discoveries again.
