I died for the first time and I had gotten all the way to spending around 4600LP and when I click on inherit I only get around 1400LP and none of my skills or anything... Is it supposed to be that i get nerfed after all that work?

Sounded like you were bothered. Just make sure you know what you're in for when you spend 5 months on your next dead character.

the LP you inherit by death depends on one of your personal beliefs, change/tradition.
you also inherit your personal claim and discoveries, but not kin list.
so, that is about whats supposed to happen, it is a *mild* perma-death.

Also 4600LP is NOTHING. You have lost no hard work with that LP count, you should be able to make that up in a day or 2 at worst, starting from absolutely scratch.

On death you lose your old character and anything that you had saved up. When creating a new character you'll notice a gravestone in the character creation room, using this will give you some of your things back, primarily your old character's personal claim and a % of their learning points. If you had changed your personal belief sliders to full change you'd receive a very small percentage of your lp back and if you were full traditional then you'd receive a slightly larger but still pretty small percentage back.

At worst. You can already make 1500 LP only using discoveries at the very start. But I do understand if you're completely new to this game and know almost nothing about it, it goes much much slower.
But still, 4600lp indeed is nothing
