Is there anything that lets you know where a clay node is, or is it hunt and peck? Regarding Ball and Acre

Definitely hunt and peck. Im sure you can do a little math if you want more precise answers. But hunt and peck is best.

Hunt and peck is best, If you find something worth having, tell no one : )
My preferred method is to have multiple people going in multiple directions, Noob alts will be fine, anyone finds any with any mass(Meaning you get q10 and it keeps going, instead of running out after 1 piece) you investigate the quality of it with a character with good survival.

Keep at it, I am quite certain there are unclaimed high q nodes out there, most people hunt until they find one, and then defend it, Simply put, there are more good usable nodes than there are factions to claim them. Same with dirt, and with water.

Node searching is very boring at first, then when you find something, it's super super exciting. use caution near active villages, they may not have a literal claim, but they may view your node as their own, And if you don't have the power to stand against them, it can become ugly fast.
Again, Good luck.

Pick feldspar on mudflats and gray clay in the water. If the quality is higher than 10 you're on a node.

Also, a good strategy to take this late into a world, go find villages with degraded palisade or brick(Preferable), with nobody active inside, Search around there, Chances are good you'll find something worth having.

Again, you are looking for signs that the place WAS inhabited, by more than two or three people if possible, but not CURRENTLY lived in.
Situations like this are plentiful. Either players killed the village, or time did, and they just burned out, leaving their delicious nodes behind, Hell, if you find something nice enough nearby, wait for a gap in the walls to appear, bash the idol, ,make a new one for yourself, and trade the nodes delicious resources to the public.
