How do I progress from this point?

Postby Kyukon42 » Tue Apr 01, 2014 6:50 pm

I have a house, a farm, everything I could need. I don't really have weapons, and I think I should get some. I want to get a mine hole, and I almost have enough for prospecting, but I can't get leather. I can't fight. What do?

1. Buy a sling for hunting.
2. Catch rabbits, you can make leather from their skins. You can make a sling with that leather yourself to hunt bigger animals.
3. Raise UA and fight foxes, later you will be able to fight boars and deers. I think 50-80 should be enough for a fox.

I'd say option #2 is the best one.

Haha, edited as ninja'd by Grapefruit. :)

Also, it is easy with good marksmanship and a nice sling to kill animals from a boat with no danger to yourself - there are plenty of guides around on killing the wildlife. :)

I have a sling actually, so how much marksmanship should I get before trying to hunt animals from a boat?

depends on your sling quality, but ~30mm is enough to kill any animal pretty fast, except for deers

There've been enough reports of people being able to hunt a bear down with low q sling and low mm - i did with q12 sling and 15 mm but it took me nearly an hour - i suggest just to try and make experiences yourself - it's fun and in boat staying away from shore you're safe :)
Check out twitch shooting - animals tend to make small movements from time to time (they twitch) - that's the moment to shoot - the more you hunt the better you're able to get the right moment.
It won't take long untill you wonder where to store all the stuff you'll get from hunting ;)

Deers are different as they come in groups and are able to heal themselves and others - you need to lure one deer away from the others (i do with Call down Thunder) and need more mm to aim and shoot faster (about half aim meter) than their healing rate...

So if I go up and down the river in a boat, I'll eventually find something? Should I keep a full inventory of stones, and a crate of them or what?

just a few stones to start shooting will be enough, there is always a plenty of stones you can chip on the other side of the river

Don't ask just do it (and try what suits you best) :)

Hunting sucessfull is one of the greatest experiences you'll have when being a "starter". I still remember how i felt after i got my first bear down ( never forget the russian hunter in w4 teaching me how to handle the bow! later i switched to sling )

Off topic, but is there an easy way to grind lp at this point? my intelligence is 12, and the curiousities I can make are leather ball, horrible knot, feather duster, cone cow, primitive doll, seer's bones, straw doll, and toy chariot. Learning ability is 279%
