get all the skills that require 200lp or less
Then get yeomanry
To get yeomanry you'll need hearth magic, farming, the will to power.
Don't worry too much about alything else, get yeomanry as quickly as you can so that you can make a claim and a palisade.

First of all i suggest you take the time and read some guides, I'm not talking about only the general ones, you should read the one which is only about " Combat " too for example.
I'll give you some links, hope they help ;

Read me first - This will be useful for understanding main things about the game.

The Sevenless' guide for beginners - More about gameplay when compared to the one above.

Little-Known Pro-Tip Thread - Really useful stuff there.

Haven & Hearth Combat System Guide - I didn't read it all but seemed a good combat guide to me.

Super simple six steps - Taming Guide .

You can find more guides by searching forums.
Good luck !
Hope it helps.

and ignore combat...srsly unless you want to die

No, never ignore combat.
You will be forced to defend yourself when the time comes, and you have to know how to attack to save your ass.

400 explor*perc isn't enough by a lot.
Also it's not bad to learn combat early on, just make sure you don't get in too deep.
Another thing to keep is mind, as long as you can't be slinged(not completely awful armor), unless you put yourself in a bad situation, it's going to be difficult for you to die. You just need to carry a sufficient amount of water with you to be able to outrun people, and have enough con to swim a decent amount.

That's not true. Yes, you will be attacked 10 000 times, but in 9 997 of those times you won't have a single chance to defend yourself, no matter how good you know combat, because fight won't be equal. To save yourself you need to learn how to run, not how to fight. For now all you need to know about combat is how to shoot animals from a boat. The only thing combat can help you with in near future is defending yourself from a boar in the woods and taming animals.
