Why can't I buld anything after my player death?

So here is the thing:
I died of a boar attack, then made a new character, inherited the belongings of my old character and conveniently spawned nearby my old holdup. But I soon noticed that I can't build fences, leantos, beds, baskets or work on existing fences anymore. What is exactly going on there?

EDIT: Oh wait. I forgot to repurchase my skills. I am terribly sorry to have littered the forums with such a simple question. I solved the problem myself.
