You also need to learn Valor.

Not really, combat is totally situational, it depends on the specific situation. Also, I recommend you get a third of your melee combat in unarmed combat so you aren't completely destroyed by maneuvers and movement hits.

Also from what I can see swords don't do enough damage to be that useful in top-tier battles, but its not that hard to hit 2k for fighting non-faction people. I like the look of sword and shield way more but I'm switching over now, as soon as I can afford a b12.

Even if you get some UA you'll still want to *really* avoid getting movement hit, since 300/4 might as well be 0… And try to thunder while they are moving with no move queued.

Also sting is a great attack, low cost & low CD. Valstrike is really useful in groups because 2 full valstrikes are often fatal but sting has lots of advantages over it in some situations, like a 1v1. Axemen probably use Val more cause chop is way slower than sting and pretty expensive too, but if you do have a sword you should use sting when applicable. Or thats what I think based on my intuition/practice sessions.

V strike has a lot of drawbacks. Giving IP to your opponents isn't too bad but you reset Advantage to 0 when you use V Strike. This makes it terrible in a situation where you've got 5 Advantage and your opponent is sitting at -5 but great if the tables are turned and you want to make a come back. It's a really slow skill so you've got to look for an opening to take advantage of it or your opponent will cream you while you sit there waiting for the cooldown to end.

The advantage reset isn't terrible because it hits first, then resets. That means you get a 1.85 weight hit at 5 advantage on your opponent which probably takes out his defense instantly. And who would sit there waiting for the cooldown to end? Just move around until it ends, not that hard.

I think you misunderstood. Valorous strike is 1.85 weight. 5 advantage is extra weight I couldn't be bothered to calculate.

3.5mc won't take out his all his def if his ua is >= your mc i think (you need 4x weight to get him to 0 i think?)
if you both had the same LP on your chars this wouldnt be a problem since you'd likely have higher mc due to lower ua investment but if you started late it sucks :o

much better to take the 2mc weight attack, sting, at +5 adv, and allows your next sting to do the same… ofc he'll likely val you but that will still put you ahead

also if you have an axe and have lots of advantage, then it seems like you have other options (cleave), which i can't wait to play with when i save up :)
