You cannot unless you build a new hearthfire somewhere else, then your old hearthfire will turn into a regular old campfire. That said the cost to make a new hearthfire is larger than just making a normal fire. =)

a hearthfire only has a cold flame (that's why it's green -> no CO² ;)

to be honest you even can't cook on a "normal" fire - roasting and fry (with a pan) only

Well, actually, the absence of black-body radiation is usually caused by the lack of soot, owing to the much more complete combustion of the fuel in a more oxygen-rich environment, which makes it a sign of a hotter flame, not the other way around. The real problem is that cooking on a hearth fire would simply incinerate your food. ^^
