Rustroot dead zone ring?

Postby Mateusz_Zboj » Mon Jul 14, 2014 2:51 am

I've seen a pic covering a theory that there is a dead zone ring while using rustroot. Is that true? Or is it just really bugged?

Currently, rustroot extract land-sweeping is bugged. If you really want to check what is under the ground and be sure 100%, scan every single tile OR go digging and then smelt the ore you have retrieved.

I believe loftar coded rustroot to scan for tiles underneath the player in a randomized chance to get a hit. By that I mean each time use rustroot you have a percentage chance per tile. The issue is that the vain might stretch in random shapes making it look as ifs pointing in all kinds of random directions when you scan and hit a specific tile in the large number of tiles. The next scan hits another tile and so on. There might also be that off chance you might be unlucky and non of the tiles in that vain fail gets a hit and makes you think its bugged.

Best way to actually reassure the area doesn't have ore is to use rustroot 3-4 times in one location hoping at least one of the ore tiles gets a hit and gives you a signal. Ones your standing on one of the tiles above the vain you might also not have a 100% chance of getting a reading, meaning there is a chance it will fail even then. Just have to keep using more rustroot, thats all.

Exactly what Tonky quoted. Sometimes you have to use extract several times in one spot to pick up a trail. It's not an absolute chance.
