I've heard that survival stops influencing formulas after i have 300. So my question is can i compensate with >300 survival to make up for mediocre cutting tool while slicing up a bear?

Survival is a soft cap and it doesn't improve the quality of the goods received from butchering animals, it can only reduce it if it's too low. There's an effective cap at 200 for butchering bears and 300 for trolls. You may need more for cattle that have gotten above those qualities.
Gee that's not what i meant, hmm let's rephrase myself. Let's say I have 10ql axe and 9001 survival, the I skin and butcher lvl 10 bear. What will be the quality of the raw hide, infestines and meat? 152 or 200?
the tool caps the quality from the resources always first. then the survival skill caps that quality. so if you have a q10 cutting tool you cant get more than 105 from a bear even with 1000 survival. you need to make/buy a better cutting tool.
