Ramming tactics/how do they work?

I have a few questions regarding battering rams as I am getting into the radius where I can use them proficiently and have enough HP to raid the (inactive) plots after ramming them. However, I must admit ramming active people seems like something I would enjoy as well.

Now a whole different spectrum of things to keep in mind appear and I have no clue about them (and the wiki doesn't help much either) so I came here to ask.

How many tiles can the ram move before breaking down? I heard 20, but I also heard 5-10 tiles.

If it is 20, is it possible to put it ''outside'' the viewing range so that I can push it towards it and still manage to ram them without being spotted before hand.

How long does the ram have to dry after repairing (wiki says 8, I heard 6)?

What is generally a good ''tactic'' to use when ramming someone? Do I log on a bit earlier to camp it while the last bit dries (I know this is the case with houses/bwall posts where they sometimes take longer/shorter to dry than actually stated)? If I'm breaking ''just'' a pali what's advisable strength to do it alone, or should I bring people with me regardless?

What are other things I should/could pay attention to to make it easier to ram?

No, viewing range is 40-45 tiles.

24 hours to dry after you build it, 8 once you repair it.

It's just preference on how bad you want to ram it and if you can actually defend it, you can camp it the whole 24 hours, the last hour, or only come when it's ready.

Need 36 STR to do the bare minimum, depends how bad you want it. It goes down fairly fast in the triple digit strength.

Is that 24/8 hours ingame or real life? I know 24 is real life so assuming 8 is too.

Viewing range yeah, but I'm like 90% sure that most people ramcheck from inside so maybe it's possible to hide it from view if they are inside?

From what I understand if they have a brickwall and do ramchecks you're just not getting in unless you want in badly enough to camp it for 24 hours

No, it's a pali and I'm not at palibashing strength yet.

24 hours drytime is Realtime and also 8 hours Repairtime

Thanks Borka but I already checked that link - I was asking more for personal ideas and tactics when ramming. Like some people prefer to do something that others don't do or something.

there aren't much true opportunities when using Rams (i'd say the only one is whether you BW it in or not ) - everything else is guessing aslong you're not going to intel 24/7 ...

personally i do ram checks outside and also destroy every Ram i come across in my area which i see outside of places unless i know who placed it and for what purposes

If you're sure that a place is truly inactive i'd just place the ram openly as near as the claim allows and go there a bit before drytime ends to check the area to exclude someone is waiting for you around ...
