Lockbox

I was wondering what a lock box is... How they are used, how they are made, uses for them, and why people have them. Also why don't I see very many? Just wondering, thanks

probably shudve posted it in something like "How do I" because i dont c a way this is remotely related 2 politics but ill answer:
a lock box is an incredibly sturdy container that needs a key 2 b opened. i think it requires more strength to break than a palisade.
nobody uses it because its much more efficient to just build a brickwall and put a house with a bunch of cupboards in it... pretty sure a lock box has the same invntory space as a wooden chest.

Assuming you mean a Strongbox, it's used to store items in a "Locked Box". The construction costs are steel and bronze, after building you get a key which is required to open the Strongbox. Strongboxes have a greater soak than palisades, and are therefore used best in palisade villages to protect your goods which your walls can not protect.
Usually I'd refrain from using it since it has a bad storage space/tile, but I like them for their way to store resources while in unwalled territory.

Most people (including me) prefer Alt vaults over Strongboxes for secure item storage.

According to RoG wiki they also cannot be lifted so no one can just grab it and run. Really ineffective. Too high cost and anyone who is going to raid you will still either be able to break it or take everything else you value.

The major issue with strong boxes is the inconvenience of needing the key to use its content. It could have been used for storing wine outside your walls next to crossroads or a way to trade goods safely if they were password accessible. But as of now its just an abused mechanic used as temporary walls as its soak is 40. Early world they are used to bubble rams but they soon become redundant when people can bash them with 1369+ STR (roughly 950 base STR and full STR gear) and a sledge.

But its been fixed as the 24h drying update so they are no longer abusable like they were before. Right now they are just decorative and just a plane annoyance. Most often they are built up against walls as well making them even more worthless storing items inside because there content can explode out of the bashed strong box into inaccessible areas for example under a brick wall or into the void areas of a house.

Moved from ICA because it's a question about game mechanics.

Strongbox' do have uses if you need safety but are metal intensive.

In world 6 someone used them to grief me.

Thats right someone actually wasted the time and resources to grief me with strong boxes when I just had a palisade. I guess being a noob back then I could have pissed someone off by leaving scents but still.
