Sand and water types?

Where do I find sand?
Since I've read that its mostly where lakes are, but I can't tell difference since all water is either blue or dark blue.
So could someone post with images of each type of water types from rivers and oceans to shallow waters and lakes in game and on minimap.
So I could be easier to locate a specific type of water terran, so I could finally find some sand.

Sand you can get digging on beaches.
You will understand when you find one

Thanks now I will know what to look for, instead going down the narrow rivers and expecting sand.
