Ore Smelting (ore to metal factors?)

Postby Lithia » Sat Jan 10, 2015 12:50 pm

Hello Friends! and murders and thieves...
I Recently smelted a full furnace full of ores which took me ages to get xD and only 2 of my 25 slots turned into cast iron
i was pretty put down by this outcome and started researching ways to improve
are there any factors other than Nature/Industry which effect Ore Efficiency? Does quality increase Ore Success rate?

No and no, and that is annoying.

If mining is currently difficult for you you might consider trading forageables like floatsams and glimmermosses for metal bars.

Only your industry slider affects the amount of bars coming out of a furnace. Having two bars coming from one furnace isn't that bad, it's close to the average.
I suggest you try to raise your strength and tool quality, those increase the speed at which you mine. When those are high enough, one furnace will be nothing (takes only a few seconds for me).
Hope you have a great day

I will clarify just in case that the miner dude must have full Industry belief.
Full Nature belief: 0-4% chance of metal bar
Neutral/default Nature-Industry belief: 10% chance of metal bar
Full Industry belief: 20% chance of metal bar

After your miner has full Industry, I recommend going full barbarism for maximum strength. After that max life to increase chances of survival in the event of cave-in.

Mining doenst really need LP investment but you may want to sudy throwaway curios with him and put points in smithing since all metalworking is STR*Smithing and your miner will double as smith. UA is also viable investment, it may allow you to escape troll -I repeat escape, not fight. You should have escape route planned whenever you mine, you must run into minehole or cave exit.
