How can I start to play?

Greetings!

Well, i don't have any idea about how to launch the game. When I click the Play button on the web, it downloads a 2 KB file without extension (called autohaven) and i can't do anything.

Also, I don't know anything about custom launchers. What is the best way to download the game and play it on my PC?

Have java? try opening autohaven with java.
Don't have java? Install it.
Autohaven does have an extension, it's .jnlp
If you can't run it most likely you don't have java installed

Nope, there's no such thing as singleplayer. You're in the game
The global chat is not active this late in the world.

As long your kin list is empty you'll get that message - but it doesn't mean you're alone on the server - have a look at the bottom:

there are not that many people using Global chat - maybe later when more USA players are online

The world is really big, it can take a long time before you bump into a new player (depending on whereabouts you are), this is a good thing because when you do meet one they will probably kill you. But good luck anyway.
