(more) questions about finding a claim location

Postby sieffre » Wed Feb 18, 2015 7:46 pm

so I got sucked back into H&H and I'm currently living the nomadic life, just storing up LP to put towards a claim. it's been a while since I played though, so I have a few questions about searching for a perfect location that browsing the forums hasn't been able to answer:

1. I don't care about soil quality, but what is a reasonable Q water node to aim for, this late in the game?
2. are there any directions/areas of the map that hold large hoards of raid-happy players? (aka, where NOT to settle?)
3. I'd like to live a ways out from the filled-in areas of sabinati's world map, but how far out does the world map extend?

answers would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

1. 40. anything higher you can trade for. You could be happy with 20-30. It's up to you and how much you want to push quality on some things. 40 really helps if you're out foraging and get caught in a foot chase.

2. That's a tough one. Best I can suggest is digging through the ICA subforum for where major factions are and where people are reporting problems. I've not played with the new world, so sorry I can't help more here.

3. I haven't looked, but 90-95% of the map is present (probably more than that). the world is 7x7 supergrids (I'm not aware if the world was expanded again). The bigger question is how much on the map is updated and accurate for who and where villages are? Even more important is who else in the larger area has private maps that are up-to-date and would notice a new settlement and likely to attack any new settlement. There's no real way of knowing that.

Just find an abandoned house with some plants and basic stuff and pose a claim on it.
Farm a bit there, make a boat and explore around, you are not in a hurry to find the perfect spot.

thank you for the tips!! I've just reached 40 survival so I can start travelling around testing water now. I'll definitely be taking simimi's suggestion.. there's a lot of abandoned houses no matter where I look.

Be careful when you build on a reclaimed house or settlement, sometimes those places have been raided by bandits or raiders, just a heads up.

They may come back.

The Lord of sneaking, the silent steps of paws, fast as a bird, and as smart as a advanced human... this is what a Fox is and what it will always be.

Also watch your back, raiders come from nowhere, keep a distance from strangers no matter how experienced they are, they can hide their equipment in the inventory, or more safe, find a village to join in
