Getting stone...

I see that getting a boat is one's only way out of this hellh... of the Ring of Brodgar.
However, I see that resources are EXTREMELY scarce.

I need stone. Of course, someone claimed the only boulder wide abroad, and criminal acts seem not to make extraction possible. How to get these?

And then, when I have the axe, the problem of wood. I would feel like a butthole if I felled the few trees available to beginners. What to do then?
Do I have to BEG more established players for resources?

Head straight north from the ring. West of the village idol are crossroads (idol is skull and bones on minimap). Travel to Novigrad. Be advised that it's not in the best shape either, tree-wise, so you'll have to walk for 3-4 minutes before reaching trees, but that's still a lot better than RoB. Please don't make it worse by cutting more trees, there's trees around that some ass has cut for LP, use those for building a boat or whatever. Only cut down trees if you really have no other choice, and then don't cut down fruit-bearing ones or birches (because you need their bark for a kuksa). Oh, and don't destroy the boulders either.

The charterstone is in the Ring of Brodgar itself, the place where you spawned.

There actually is a way out of the devastated area, through the City of Brodgar. To find it get to the idol in the city and then look for a pallisade doorway on your right that leads down a fairly narrow passage way. That will put you on a road that you can take to the East and there are still trees including fruit trees in that direction and in fact you can walk to the wilds of Mordor without a boat. Go far enough and you get beyond the fruit trees into the fir trees where you will have to live on fish, game and mushrooms.

I truly wish there was a way to mark the roads. Many newcomers have a heck of a time finding their way out of Brodgar.

Best advice was above, just go north from the ring through town to the village idol, go to the crosspost signs, choose a place and go...Lake Russaria is new, plenty of places on the lake to settle. But yeah, just go to the crossroads, choose a place, and warp out...then you'll be ok.
