Which tiles of a cave can be mined without causing a cave-in

Judging by the response to my minehole question, are cave-in tiles the ones adjacent to corners? Or does this only apply to mineholes?
Can caves be mined in at all? Or am I gonna go squish?

You can mine a tile in a cave if you are standing on a native cave tile (or where a native cave tile was).
If not, you will cause a cave in

Instead of making a new thread, ask this stuff in the simple questions thread.

Don't mine in the corners of minehole but in the middle of wall one tile to set a support there. The risk of cave ins in corners seems to be higher.

You can mine everywhere in caves with the exception of about first 50 tiles in entrance area
