Fishing

When's the best time/what's the best place/what's the best bait for sturgeon? A few days ago I got lots fishing in a lake, I think around dawn, but I haven't been able to get any since. Is it dependent partly on something else?

Fishing might not be random but with so many variables it's way to unreliable to matter.

I can't understand how does fishing work, could somebody help me? It says that i should have my fishing pole fully equipped, but i have already done it. I have a hook, fishing pole and a bait, also tryed to use earthworms... the same thing everytime - "fishing pole must be fully equipped..."

And what's better earth worms or handcrafted baits? And is there are different types of fish in game?

About 10 types.

I prefer handcrafted baits.
When you use live bait, you'll get a fish every time, but the bait will also always get eaten.
When you use crafted bait, you only get fish every 4 times or so, but you'll lose your bait, hook or string each with a 1% chance each time. You could lose everything but the pole in one catch, but that's a once a million chance.

The kicker is that digging is very exhausting. It could be that getting earthworms makes you more hungry, than the fish you can catch with them satiates you.
Hi quality earth worms could be worth it though. (Hint: worm quality = soil quality)

You can even use leeches from swamps as bait. And when you feed them they even gain quality!

You eat the fish that eats the leech that eats your blood... is that self cannibalizing?
