Did I die or what?

I made a character that was attacked by a boar and went down. Then I got kicked out of the game. I restarted the client, and it forced me to make a new character. I went to the place where I died, and the old character is lying there bleeding.

Can I recover him or what is going on?

No you can't recover him and yes, I'm afraid the boar has trampled on you and killed you .......

You can loot your corpse to retrieve your stuff but you will need the theft skill.
Or, wait until the corpse turns into a skeleton and all items will be dropped on the ground, it takes awhile though.

That's the way to look at it .... and at least it wasn't to ants .....
And you'll be a bit more aware of boars in the future.
