question on killing someone

so lets say iam minding my own business and someone attacks me with a "murder" alt. lets say i kill them instead. do i leave a murder scent that someone can use to kill me later? or am I untouchable?

If he attacks you first you can only ko him without leaving a scent. KIlling him will let you leave a murderscent.

so if you have a guy bent on killing you, what are you suppose to do about it...

KO him, then escape or kill him and leave scents.

You're supposed to die. That is, kill him and then die in retaliation. Get full tradition first, so you don't lose too much, and get some ranging done for your friends before you get summon-executed. If you kill at least two enemies, it's a good trade.

if you dont have a hearthfire and you just logout can somone still summon you back into the game?
