To make a cartworth road

And to make it look appealing, Simple steps should be taken.

First. You start with a point of origin.
Second, You have a destination.

To maximize the appearance of the highway/road, Avoid building on angles going straight up, right, down or left, Focus entirely on true north, true east, true south, and true west.

Build the road 3 lanes wide, build the outside 2 lanes first, this allows you to keep your bearings as to how wide the road actually is, then when you build the entire length of the road, build farmland just around the edges to make the pavement straight. This does not work with clay, plus, you can border the highway with flax or hemp to make it more appealing.

check the rome project for more details. It includes some good looking and functional corners, intersection and other small solutions.
Or just check this image:

One thing i noticed though is that a road will need to be widened if used alot by people with carts. You need atleast 4 tiles to be able to go past another cart.

Fun fact: IRL, hemp is often found growing in roadside ditches. Plus, if you get caught collecting any for "cloth", you can say you're collecting recycling cans.
Surprise.

You can't smoke most if not all of that hemp though.

Very nice, I'm busy developing the road from the now dead "because of griefers, and lack of action" Shady Acres, Ecythera Vineyard and Villa, and Brogdar.
