How do i fight?

Through the help of others I've been learning what moves i have to use to tame cows/sheep. There is just one problem. I very vaguely understand the game mechanics of the fighting. I read the "how do i" forum on the attack maneuvers, but that only slightly helped. what does it mean when it says "the battle intensity?" So far the only thing i really had to do was fire arrows pew pew so... i never really had to learn how to fight.

ya someone pointed me to that topic awhile ago, it doesnt help at all. All i know is that when i fought a lvl 9 boar, it didn't hit me much at all, and i couldn't hit it... but the combat advantage slowly went in his favor until it was max, then he was hitting me ALL time until i was knocked out

battle intensity affects the regen bar for next attack. Higher battle intensity gives a faster response time. It also causes more stamina drain on instance attacks. It also disallows certain instance attacks.
