Health Regen and leeches

Postby reticulata » Wed Dec 30, 2009 8:59 pm

How do I regen my health bar? I have tried using leeches and ended up losing more health. There has to be another way - I have looked all over and found no info on this. I just got owned by a pack of sheep.

also, a couple things to point out here:

leeches drain your SHP, and have a chance to heal your HHP. the process is quite slow, as even if you put leeches in every slot you'll only be able to heal a few points at a time.

your SHP will regenerate if your hunger is yellow or green. faster when it's green. no regen when it's bright red, and you lose HHP points when your hunger is dark red (0-50%)

bandages just heal HHP

Leeches will heal your hard hitpoints but they do it inconsistently and it costs you some SHP. As long as you keep well fed, that shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you remove leeches when they get bloated, either letting those sit around in your inventory/cupboard to return to normal or replacing them with new ones.

If you have first aid, wool, and a loom, you can make bandages. They heal consistently, though slowly, without costing SHP. Can't wear headgear while you have them though.

We know and will probably fix it later tonight, as we are developing atm.

Also of note, at every Day cycle (RL I think) the leaches that you store become unbloated, so no need to go to the swamp to gather leeches every time. One bath then take them home with ya...

And leeches drain 1shp per hit every 10 quality, so quality 100 leeches will drain 10shp but also heal 10hhp sometimes

That is nice to know. I have one foot in the grave right now sitting at 3 shp and have a fresh load of leeches coming in. It would be nice to have an alternate way for noobs to regain shp since sheering sheep is not an option at this point- building a med tent would be nice.

You can always wait and do nice sedentary safe tasks for a few days. They will regenerate on their own. It just takes awhile.

Of course you have to be logged in, so I am not recommending bed rest in this particular instance, just good nourishment and light exercise. I recommend a diet of mulberries and/or apples, fishing and building kuksas
