Survival skill and roasting chickens

Postby martinuzz » Thu Jan 07, 2010 4:56 pm

I thought that quality of roasted meat improved with survival skill.
However, with survival skill at 45, I still only make q10 roasts from q10 chickens..
Is it capped by the initial quality of the raw meat then?

Skills and stats can't improve quality, they can only decrease it if they're insufficient. The only exception is jewellery, because gold and silver don't have quality.

Correction, they have infinite quality.

wood boards, farming produce, probably some more stuff as well.

the whole quality system is needlessly unintuitive.

the wood boards are effected by the tool, farming is a +/- 5 variation for each generation, metalworking uses the hammer/anvil in most cases, wood fish can be raised above the q of the block if your cutting tool is better than the block, but in no case are the skills or stats increasing the output q, they only softcap it

By and large the quality system is one of the most beautiful aspects of the entire game.

Now this I will joyously agree with, it is one of the most attractive qualities in it's nature to allow very very longterm play models. Those who claim to be bored or have nothing to do just aren't considering (or have no fun with) the quality system which is one of things that would attract longterm sandbox players to this game. I also think it is one of the best thought out and most fair aspects of the game in its calculation and equaltions as you increase said quality of various things from crops to items to structures.
