fishing equipment quality

Postby kazgar » Sun Jan 10, 2010 10:09 pm

Anyone know which skills/stats affect it? I've got access couple of decent quality branches, but the combined pole seems to be far less quality then i would expect considering the source material.

Seems to be woodfish may be the quality of the block, not sure about quality of the axe.

would they be carpentry, because its wood (and metal lures being metal) but would it also be survival as fishing could be a 'survival skill' ?

anyone tested it?

Survival. Very much a survival thing.

The quality of the axe is also dependant on your survival. If your survival is less than ten the axe will be less than ten when starting with an ordinary boulder and branch.

Carpentry effects the quality of your wood fish. If your axe is ten and your carpentry is ten the woodfish will be q10 too.

BTW, if you are fishing dependant for food you might want to hang on to some of the very low q equipment that you make in the early days. That would be <q10 branches made into rods, <q10 stringy taproots and lower than q10 bone hooks and lures.

If you catch plaice that is q10 or up it gives you both int and perception. If the plaice is less than q10 it only gives perception. Later on you may want to avoid the int which you can do by using the low quality equipment. Plaice is not the only fish that gives a pure stat when it is low quality. You can also get fish that has no fep using the substandard equipment which can also be useful if you have no source of fruit and no time to scour the woods for taproot.

true

as i made some copper lures and they turned out with much lower ql as expected with 200 survival. my smithing sux, so their ql is related to smithing.

poppy wobblers are survival tho, as are stone lobsters.

and you need at least 201 survival to get ql200 bone hooks ;)
