Remote feeding

I read in the animal domestication thread where the devs said "yes calves can feed remotely" approx. So I wanted to confirm. SO it is poosible to have calves in a pen next to a pen with the mommys and the calves do not need physical contact to get milk from the cows? They just need to be in the correct vicinity?

I ask because keeping the calves seperate from the mommys enables a way to ensure you know virgin cows from those who have given birth.
