Mine without a pick.

I have done a bit of exploring and found someone's village a little bit away from Camp Noctis with a mine just outside their land.
I was quite excited to know that one was so close to the camp but I was curious how I am supposed to mine without a pick?
I need iron bars to make a pick. I need a pick to mine for ore... Or don't I? Quite a dilemma.

You can mine with a stone axe; it's just a lot slower than using a pickaxe.
