Tree planting specifics.

Postby sonerohi » Mon Jan 18, 2010 6:20 pm

I'm trying to make a nice looking area with some apple and mulberry trees hemmed into individual pockets. Near as I can tell, the fully grown tree needs a 4x4 space. My question then, pertains to which tile on the inner 2x2 does the sprout need to be placed? I.E. would this work if the O was the sprout>
Code: Select all
XXXX
XXXX
XXOX
XXXX

and if not, what would?

Even better your grid should REALLY look like this:

OXXXXXOXXXXXOX
XXXOXXXXXOXXXX
XXXXXXOXXXXXOX
XXXOXXXXXOXXXX
OXXXXXOXXXXXOX

Do it, You'll thank me when it comes time to cut them.

Tree planting and stunting is not related to the tile grid at all. A tree needs, quite simply, three times the area it occupies in order to be able to grow. Three times length-wise, that is -- not area-wise.

For instance, if a tree's area against the ground is 1.3 x 1.6 meters, then it requires an area of 3.9 x 4.8 meters to grow. That is, unlike requiring 1.3 * 1.6 * 3 = 6.24 m², it requires 1.3 * 3 * 1.6 * 3 = 1.3 * 1.6 * 3² = 18.72 m² to grow.
