Purple marsh

Has anyone ever found anything of use in a purple marsh? I mean the kind that is light purple and smeary and turns into streaks at the water's edge.

Any kind of plants? Tea? Pumpkins?

I tried, nothing. Can't dig and didn't see anything so far as herbs. No leeches either.
