How Do I tame anything?

Postby scourage » Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:00 pm

Ok So i went to the wiki and asked in IRC but It doesn;t seem to work as suggested

What I have gathered so far si that I need to get my Battle Advantage to full (scale tilted left) and get my battle intensity to 0 (number on scale) and get my initiative to 2 (or more?) If i sucessfully get to use quell the beast then i should see a yellow '20' float above the animal then I have partially tamed it and it starts to follow me around. Within the next 20 minutes it will attack me and I wil have to do it over again 4 more times.

My main problem is that I Get the stuff where it needs to be at and then i can't use quell the beast at all, it gives a beep like error sound or it randomly works with no way to see what was doen to make it work.

So I was able to do the first portion of taming an auroch by luck but when it attacks i can't seem to replicate it.

here are the skills I have been using:

Consume flames
Punch
Opportunity knocks
Sidestep

Just wondering if anyone knows what exactly I need to do to be able to tame this thing? Every response I get doesn't seem to help.

If it beeped, you didn't meet all the conditions. It's easy to lose one step of combat advantage while you're waiting for the Quell Beast move to execute. That, or you got a point of combat intensity while waiting.

use combat meditation to keep the intensity low. if you have low enough str/unarmed where you won't actually hit or damage the aurochs use punch to get 2 initiative, then use opportunity knocks a few times until you have 10 or so init points, sidestep a few times for advantage and then quell (make sure you have enough init, and an equipped rope). the only time it should fail is if the aurochs hit you and gain a point of advantage in the time you are waiting for the cooldown timer before you quell.

OK I will try these things. i wish there was a better way to see what the combat advantage is, the scale looks like I have full and yet i cant use the skill.

ok I did what you said and it still doesn't seem to work. I can't tell what my battle advantage is I only see the scale tilted to the left and the auroch isnt damaging me, but sometimes when I use sidestep i see a hoof on the auroch and i hear a click sound. Is there no way to see what my advantage is?

If it's all the way to the left, it's all the way to the left. You can see when you use sidestep and you already have some advantage how far it goes. But are you sure that combat intensity (the number on the scales) is 0? If both of these are OK and you have rope equipped and two initiative, the move must succeed. Are you using dodge or meditation? If it's dodge, it's possible that intensity gets raised to 1 just before the move executes. I take it the aurochs isn't hitting you at all (you don't get red zeros rising from you, right?), so you shouldn't be losing advantage.
