Killing a Cow

What does it take to kill a cow - in terms of stats, skills, tools. I'm tired of gaining nothing but int, and/or getting meat from my more advanced neighbours. But my attempts at cow killing are a bad joke - run out of stamina repeatedly, sometimes produce splashes of blood, and never yet kill one. I'm wielding a stone axe and using chop.

You'll need to increase Melee skill to around 9 to be able to hit cows reliably.

use the extra abilities. sidestep is particularly useful

yes, 4,500 points worth of melee skill on top of the investment to get the combat skills. It's not that expensive, just do something less bloodthirsty for a while before you start slaughtering the livestock

It'll probably come down when they eventually start implementing domesticated animals, because currently it considers killing a cow to be "hunting", maybe consider them wilderbeasts / buffalo instead of dairy cows

Cows have around 45 -50 hit points aswell.

Successfully killed 2 cows with only 6 points in melee, using chop and hand axe. Think I could have done it at 5.
