Poultry Breeding Questions

Postby Cookie » Sat Jan 30, 2010 11:44 pm

Why do I need a stone foundation for a chicken coop??? All the chicken coops I've been in have been fairly flimsy structures often on skids so they can be hauled around, made out of nothing stronger than boards with chicken wire at the.... Oh. Right. Yup. Got it. This milieu predates chicken wire so in order to keep the burrowing foxes and rats out of my coop I need a good strong stone foundation to keep them from digging their way in.

So...

Will egg production be speeded up?

Does the q of my chicken coop effect the q of my poultry produce?

What kind of fep does an egg produce?

Does a less than q10 egg give any fep?

Can a frying pan be made out of tin?

Nobody has any eggs yet, so only devs can answer the first four questions. As to the last, yes it can.

1. I'm not sure yet. I'd like to see how the current egglaying mechanism turns out first. As I stated elsewhere, I'm rather afraid people will be bathing in eggs and chickens once it gets starting.
2. Nope. For the sake of the quality system, I would like it to, but it just seemed so completely unreasonable. As Potjeh said, Darwin is already turning in his grave.
3/4. Raw eggs cannot be eaten at all, currently; you have to fry or boil them first. Fried and boiled eggs do not yield FEPs under q10; pancakes, on the other hand, do. I don't remember the exact FEPs off-hand. I guess you'll find out soon enough. :)

As for stone foundation, you only require it on woodland, in the same way that it is required to raise any immovable constructions whatsoever (well, except the leanto). I guess I just think it's kind of unreasonable to build even the flimsiest of coops right on woodland. ;) It is possible to build it directly on grasslands and dirt, however. It will just decay faster there.

HUmm, I didn't think of the stone foundation since I built mine on yellow land, it didn't occur to me to put a stone foundation as it let me build it without warning..lol I guess I'll see what the decay rate is like then.
