paving land

well im new to the game and i wanted to build a log cabin... i cut up some trees to make an open space for it but it wont let me build it. i heard that you need to pave the land first but i dont know exactly how.

You need to plough first to pave forest terrain. Grass, heath etc can be paved without ploughing.

yes ive ploughed the land neded but ow do i actualy pave the land?

Adventure -> landscaping -> pave (requires Stoneworking). Then just fill your inventory with stones and l-click (with the paving cursor active, of course) on the ploughed tiles to pave them.
