Hi im just recently started playing getting on pretty well

been seeing alot of stuff about irc chat in the forums but cant seem to find how to get on it

if you could help me connect that would be great

you could also geta real IRC client or usethe irc capable game client

Sorry for the necrophilia, but could someone explain to me how to set up the IRC client? I downloaded XChat and Pidgin, but couldn't seem to figure either of them out... :/

What I did:
In XChat, I created a new network, and in the server box, I put the IRC link irc://irc.synirc.net/Haven and tried to connect. It turned the colon into another slash and I got "Looking up irc///irc.synirc.net
Unknown host. Maybe you misspelled it?"

In Pidgin, I clicked Add Account, changed the protocol to IRC and put the IRC link in the server box, but it wouldn't let me submit without a username. I put my username, but that didn't seem to be right, since I couldn't connect.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

those links only work for certain irc clients, like mirc

for pidgin, go to modify account:

username = whatever nick you want
server = irc.synirc.net

in the buddy list menu, add chat:

select the account you just made from the dropdown list
channel = #haven

I get Unable to connect: Connection refused, and can't click Add Chat in the menu. Is there anything else I need to configure? Maybe the port or something?

In the Advanced tab it is set to 6667. I haven't changed it.
