tanning tub

i would have to guess the tanning tub needs water but i am not shure how to get water. ive been building a well but i havent got the materials or the ability to get those matereals and probaly not the ability to make rope. so my question is is there another way to get water besides a well?

You can get water straight out of a river/lake, just click an empty bucket to attach it to cursor and then right click on shallow water.
