Sharing is caring - Gates and keys.

Postby 32012323 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 6:22 am

Hey guys,

I've read a few topics about this but I've been wondering how people work around this dilemma. I have just finished constructing a palisade around my plot, and at the time I hadn't noticed the gripe about keys and gates.

Let's say I'm sharing a property with two other people, it's not altogether big, but people need to get in and out for various reasons. On the one hand I have a complete newbie training there and the other my neighbour dropping past with goodies when he can.

Leaving this gate open defeats the purpose of me having built the wall in the first place, however I can't just leave the key somewhere, have them open the gate, do their business then put the key back in the exact spot every time.

I'm quite sure somebodies got a way of avoiding this problem without involving somebody standing by the gate watching 24/7 "just in case", nobodies got that time of day.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Give the keys to a gatekeeper alt on another account, share the password with your friends.

If that's the most inobtrusive way to handle it I think I should.

Thanks Jackard!

you can also make more keys if you have a source of wrought iron, if you don't you could make more gates i suppose

As Sabinati just said,
You can make spare keys. and name the keys so you know wich key is wich.

You need wrough iron nuggets, and clay. put the key you want to duplicate on the clay so it turnes to a keymold, then use the mold on a wraugh iron nugget, voila an extra key has been made. then make sure to get rid of the mold, throw it in the water or something so that no one can find it and make keys from it.

Good luck
