Lay stone down

I layed 2 stone down already, (yes tiles) and for some reason now it's not working. >.> I do it all correct and it's in my inventory. Pretty odd that I can't put it down. :S How would you properly put it down? Because I had it up 2 times and now it just stoped working :(
