Avoid eating any meat raw as you get sickness fep which can cost you hit points. As long as you can find branches to make a fire you can cook it from the craft menu.

If you haven't already made a new character make sure you click on the runestone in the character creation room to inherit. If you had a claim you should spawn there and have access to it, so perhaps all is not lost?
