How do i find someone

Ok so me and my wife want to play together. So we added each other as a kin and created a party. Then a blue arrow shows up on the screen pointing in whatever direction. So is it pointing towards the other person in the party? If so why when i click follow it goes in a different direction to where the arrow is pointing. Moreover the direction in which arrow is pointing changes widly from west to nw ne east and even south somethimes.

If you two want to play together, your best bet is to have one of you create a hearthfire (5 branches from any tree + 1 'A Beautiful Dream!'), and then to set a 'Hearth Secret' in the Kin menu.

Once the hearth secret is set, the other person should restart, and make a character. However, instead of using the ladder or the floor hatch, they should talk to the man at the very top of the screen, who will ask what hearth secret you want to go to. Type in the hearth secret, and a set of stairs will appear. Use them, and you'll appear near the hearthfire of the person who set the hearth secret.

The problem here is that the map is very, very big. And those party directional arrows are much more likely to be accurate if you are close to the other person.

When you are in party with her there will be a coloured box in the corner. Whoever offered party is the red arrow/box. Whoever accepted first is blue. Click on the box in the upper left. you will start walking in the correct direction. Ignore the arrows. You'll find the box is consistent. If either one of you goes into a house the arrow will likely swing around to a completely random direction so I just ignore them for the most part.

This may be a long journey, involving making boats. I found someone in the next supergrid this way and it was only about an hour and a half to a two hours journey using boats. That is rl time. It took us much longer though, because every time he crashed he was carrying his darned boat so he had to restart back at his hearth fire. He lost a fully loaded boat we couldn't find again. It is doubtful that it was stolen since it was deep in the middle of a pine forest. On a happy side note he was able to find grapes while he was travelling and bring a new crop to our farm.
