Finding quality points on map

Postby garfunkal » Tue Feb 09, 2010 4:01 am

Basically wondering if there is a way for finding quality water, clay and soil on the maps? Do you just have to wander around randomly checking water, digging etc..., or is there a way to identify regions with quality resources, I am relatively new to the game and out in the wilderness with no neighbours, looking for a good area to set up shop.

In a word... ADVENTURE!

Gonna be necessary to wander the world with your shovel, a bucket, and plenty of bear repellent.

well if you find herbs (blueberries, chantrelles, spindly taproot, etc) higher than q10 then there is better soil there. other than than, it's pretty much sample water and clay as you explore. if you find a point over q10, check the directions around it to see if it increases, and follow the direction it increases in.

thank you for the advice, a follow up question do the quality of areas interact, ie does high quality soil mean high quality clay and water in the same area etc... I will be tying in my searches with my never ending quest to find wheat :D

nope they are independent, but sometimes you can find some close to each other.

wild wheat grows on green grassland in case you didn't know.

Explorations are going well, found wild grapes, carrots, onions. poppies and hemp so far :D still no elusive wheat or tea, found lvl 36 clay lvl 31 soil, are these values considered good?

edit: does soil value of the region affect crop quality?
