Pallisades

Postby Wolfang » Thu Feb 18, 2010 12:21 pm

Whenever i try to use cliffs as natural defence and as an elongation of my wall, i find that the last bit of wall that you must build, the part that is against the cliff, and that would seal your wall, can never be built, making it possible to just walk around your wall.

This is extremely frustrating, what am I doing wrong??? Why shouldnt it be possible to use cliffs as part of your fortifications???

Everytime i build a wall using cliffs so as not to waste more wood, IT DOESNT WORK, there is always 1 square which you cannot build on, and in which the people can just walk in between your wall and the cliff!!!?????!!!

PLEASE, HELP!

Don't know if this works above the cliff. I have seen a couple below the cliff that I couldn't squeeze in.

Where ever a fence fits, so does a pallisade. Use a fence to test your space which is easy to destroy should you make a mistake. Or better yet, just put one branch into a fence, don't build and then test to see if you can get around it. Unbuild if you can still squeak through. This technique is invaluable for makng sure you space your gate posts correctly. Two fence segments mean that your second gate post is not off center.

And I believe that you fill find holding down shift while you place that first corner post makes placement a little less random.

I have seen some tragically large constructions that suffered from this issue, where the hapless builder just kept extending and extending trying to link to something that would seal his pallisade.

i think this is a huge issue, make conencting walls to cliffs possible, and make it impossible to walk on cliffs.

I HATE CLIFFS, right now, its better to not use cliffs at all and just make a square wall around your base because cliffs are so unreliable if you want to use them...
not ONCE have i ever been able to use a cliff without it being possible to just walk between the cliff and around the wall.

The old ridges were not designed to handle interactions with walls, and so they don't. The new ridges (mountains) are, and I hope to fix the old ones some time as well.

I had better not be trapped by you when I log in tonight ^.^

We can build along the cliff if you like, it does offer extra protection on the sides, if a bit limiting in space.
