molting my chickens

Does anyone know how long chickens survive in a coop without food?
I want to upgrade the food they eat, but I do not want to starve my bodacious biddies. I know lack of food and light can force chickens to molt, but…

I've had chickens survive in a basket for two days, after that I found them dead and their quality halved.

Use a trough to add alot of seeds at once.
