Build a gate

I am trying to build the gate to complete my palisade barrier. I read the H&H wiki and it says there must be 2 free tiles in between 2 cornerposts to build a gate. I paved the 2 tiles in between the 2 cornerposts and it says I cannot build my gate there. Is it because I paved the tiles?

yo if you on i need this information as fast as possible
do i need 2 corner peice between were my gate is going
to be or can i make it with 1 corner post??
i already have the front and back paved 2 space really 3 and 2 width but i cant build a gate still?

A gate MUST have two cornerposts at the proper spacing. to even get the option to build it.
