Prospecting

Postby Naerymdan » Sun Mar 07, 2010 2:01 pm

I finaly got my exploration and peception high enough I see rustroots everywhere I look.

I made a lot of rustroot extract and am now ready to prospect!

But do I prospect an area once per minimap? Per local map (5x5 minimaps)? Per regionnal maps(5x5 local maps)?

Also in caves, do i just enter the cave test it quickly and try somewhere else or should I go further in and test reapetitively?

I do not know the size of local maps or mini-maps, but i know this. When I prospect we find a reading of 25% in a mud flat. We run around the mud flat excited and the result is as much the same, 25%. At first we try much too close. So we go down through forest, cross a river, still trying, it is not there, we go too far into a second different mud flat, the wrong direction now 60%. Then we cross back the river, run again through the forest and there we find a mountain. In this mountain it is 90%. We find it upon the farther side.

This perhaps will give to you an idea of the range. None of these terrains were immense, but none were small either. in 75% of the range of the prospect there were two mudflats, much forest, two rivers and a mountain.

Prospecting has a radius of 1000 tiles. So, if you get a 50% reading, it means that a mine is 500 tiles away, give or take 10 (1% = 10 tiles). For comparison, a supergrid is 5000x5000 tiles.
