Any tips for Clay?

Hello,

Recently I got a small issue which was not explained anywhere from what I know (or my google skills are lacking).
As you already guessed by title - I have troubles with Clay. A lot of things ask for large amounts of Clay, yet it seems there is nothing around the spot where I`m located. So hence the questions:
1) Is there any way to see if shore have clay deposit in it? Or the only way to know is by digging?
2) What is good way to farm clay if you have no deposits around? How far should I travel from "harvested" spot to get another piece of clay?
3) How long does it take for clay to re-spawn?

1) Only way is to dig
2) Grab a friend, get a couple boats and some chests, and go look for a good clay spot. From my old village I traveled about 10 minutes for 50ql clay
3) No clue on this one, but if the spot has no clay it will never re spawn the lowest quality it can be is 10ql (Correct me if i'm wrong.)

I was about to give up on searches, but with your answer - I managed to find clay deposit myself! Now I can finally do fun things! (for me ).
