Rough estimate on what it would take to solo a deer?

Postby ViciousGamer04 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:17 pm

Just curious what it would take on a rough estimate to solo a deer in your opinion. I suppose I should say. How much MS/STR/ whatever plays a role in using ranged would it take to solo one?

It's perception and Marksman, not strength.

You need to be doing more than 100 hp of damage consistently.

In my experience slings don't do enough damage no matter how high the marksman or quality of the sling because they are limited by the stones. Arrows are harder to hit with, but do more damage. I don't know the numbers you would need. Sorry. I hope this is of use.

I can kill 2 deers with my Q30 sling at 40 marksmanship quite easily. I know a guy who does it at Q30 sling and 30 marks.

3 deers give me troubles tho.

Step by step deer/animal killing *trick* (read cheat) is:

- Get a boat
- Find deer herd
- Build medium signpost cage on side of water with 1 square entrance at least 3 - 4 screens away
- Go attack 1 deer and run back to boat
- Go 1 - 2 screens towards cage then land
- Wait for deer to catch up and go back in boat
- Repeat previous step till you have landed in the cage.
- When deer is in cage to try and stomp you, get in boat and go about 5 screens away, don't forget to make peace with deer
- When aggro has stopped, go back to cage, fill the gap with one more signpost and sling away on deer

Also, don't wait for accuracy meter to completely fill up, half filled is perfect: fast and decent accuracy.

Well although i'm not going to debate on how little it makes sense that str doesn't play any role at all thanks for letting me know that perception does. I never really ranged much before reset. It's helpful. I knew nothing about needing perception for ranged.

A good trick (almost cheat) is:

- Go 1 - 2 screens towards cage then land

I thought it would be harder then that lol, thanks for the info & tips. With enough time invested I could probably have a deer solo'ed within the first couple days of solo gameplay.

I can solo a deer, that has 2 other deer healing it, with a q47 sling, and MM 50

Trick is, to take some chances on the aim bar. Shoot at 70% or so. Shoot once, wait for first heal, shoot another time, wait for 2nd heal, shoot 3d time, wait for 3d heal.. Then, try to get in 3 hits fast, before the first healer kicks in again.
