Lost and Can't Really Log Out

Well, my continuing saga of exploring this game now has me on the far side of a rock from a fox - minus my pants and armor. There's also a deer looking for me with violent intent. Worse, perhaps, I'm quite lost, and tried logging off to get back home, only to reappear in the same place with Zzzz over my head.

I think I basically understand what's happening - there's something implemented to prevent people escaping combat by logging off. That's fine, but I had well and truly escaped from the deer - and couldn't get home. I ran in random directions, after having already wandered out of my normal landmarks scavenging, and the area I'm in has nothing I recognize. (The fox was just foolishness - I'd taken out two already that evening, didn't expect a third to be too much for me - so continued my hunting.)

My problem is that no one I know is on, and I want to go to bed. I'm concerned about getting really hungry, stuck behind this rock not fully logged off. (Or not stuck, since with my stamina recovered I'm pretty sure I can break contact with the fox.) Somehow I suspect the thing to do is to get knocked out, so it stops hunting me, but that's not a solution I like. What _is_ one supposed to do in a situation like this?

Log out, and in 20 minutes anything angry at you will finally give up and go home. Of course, this isn't 100% safe. If something does manage to get to you it will get to inflict 20 minutes worth of beat down on you.

Your other option for avoiding angry critters is to enter a cabin or a mine, but since you're lost that doesn't sound like a practical option.

He also seems to have pissed off a deer, so that won't work, getting KO'd by the fox will just make the fox leave.

Animals get tougher as you go further away from civilization, a level 3 fox is MUCH tougher than a level 1 fox. This used to be a very big problem back when level numbers weren't shown.

I suggest you just stand still until the deer's timer runs out, then get KO'd by the fox and logout. Hunger won't deplete if your stamina is full. Also, the "really hungry" bar is about twice as long as the full bar.

I'd say put whatever armor you have on still in your inventory, set your combat maneuver thing to dodge, run around the rock to get the fox's attention, and then ignore the fox and try to pick up anything you dropped. Once you've done that just get it stuck again and log out and go to sleep. 20 minutes after you log out, the fox should despawn, combat should end and you should count as being fully logged out, and you should be teleported home, I think.

I've gone afk for hours and come back to being almost completely full still, so I don't think you're in any danger of starving.

Going AFK uses no hunger, and your stamina still recharges.

Thank you. As it happens, I got lucky. A large friend logged on while I was posting this, came and got me, killed 2 foxes, and led me back to civilization. Now I've one more thing in my list of things not to do ;0(
