How do I know if I am 'on the next map'? I dont want to draw the same map repeatedly.

There's no X you are here now is there. Sure you can compare but you can move your minimap/sight so that isnt to accurate either.
Better answer please, someone?

As far as I know, that is the best answer.

I just use patterns in the trees to guage the borders of areas I havent mapped and pass them. If your at the right amount of lag, you'll also notice your minimap reveals itself square by square, the same squares used on your map.
If you ever run into someone in real life chasing moths, running down rabbits, or admiring the picket fence around your house that's me!

The position of your camera doesn't change anything. On your minimap, there is a red X which indicates your character's position. The X doesn't stay centered within the minimap box, it moves to reflect your actual position within the world. All you have to do is make sure your X is outside of the area you have already mapped. The easiest way to do this is to use grassland/swamp/mudflat/mountain regions or lakes/rivers if they are available. Ridges and easily recognizable tree formations work just fine the rest of the time.

If all else fails, guess. Happy mapping.
Come back two hours earlier.
